I am a passionate youth mentor, a teacher with 21 years’ experience under my belt, and proud owner and founder of Sparks to Flames.
Sparks to Flames is a youth mentoring service. My sole mission, through Sparks to Flames, is to support girls and gender diverse young people to deeply know their true worth so that they are empowered and happy to be themselves.
I was inspired to start Sparks to Flames because of my personal experience of being bullied and suffering from low self-esteem as a teen. I was able to overcome this through strong friendships and the realisation that being myself was vital to my confidence and wellbeing. Now, I want to take my lessons from my journey to enable girls to let their flame burn bright.
I’m taking the best parts of me – my enthusiasm, positivity and energy and combining it with my youth mentor training, mentoring experience, and teaching qualifications and experience, to create a beautiful space where girls and gender diverse young people can learn to be their bright and radiant selves.
My work through Sparks to Flames has allowed me to facilitate face to face workshops on bullying, online workshops supporting highly sensitive young people, and mentoring over 240 LGBTQIAP+ tweens and teens in an online Fitbit Community group.
I truly believe that every young person needs a youth mentor. And I will continue my work to ensure that as many tweens and teens as possible, embrace their uniqueness and deeply know their true worth.
