Welcome to our first ‘official’ episode and first interview of the podcast!

I’m so excited to introduce you to Julie Parker.  She’s someone I admire greatly and has decades of experience working with youth in a variety of capacities, from working on the streets to counselling to working in the not-for-profit sector. Now she runs a very successful coaching school, the Beautiful You Coaching Academy, where she passionately trains and supports heart-centred people to bring their talents into the world as life coaches.

In this episode I chat with Julie about why we don’t need to ‘fix’ young people and how coaching strategies and powerful questions can support young people to look ahead and make positive changes in their life.

We cover:

– how we can use active and curious listening with youth

– why we shouldn’t ask too many ‘why’ questions

– powerful questions to empower young people to see what’s possible for them and some strategies to keep youth moving forward and looking ahead, rather than being stuck in our ‘stories’

You can find Julie at The Beautiful You Coaching Academy.  If you’ve ever considered coaching people of any age, one-on-one then I can highly recommend Julie’s course.  I trained with Julie a few years ago and the course really helped me to support more of my students one-on-one and feel comfortable facilitating student-led group discussions.
